Restorative Yoga is a style of yoga made for Everyone! It is yoga for people who need to relax and sit still and not move. Get into yourself, your own body and area of space. Not only is it relaxing, it allows you to comfortably and pain free get into positions you thought you may not have been able to do.
Restorative yoga is exactly what it says…restorative to the mind, body, and spirit. Each session is a journey through your own internal nervous system, Chakra’s, and mind. This allows for the Central Nervous System to shut off (fight or flight) and the body to go into the Parasympathetic Nervous System, of rest and digest. Restorative sleep and yoga allows for the body to heal from the inside out, facilitating our own self healing and restoring ourselves with our medicine inside.
Each posture is held for a few minutes minimum with lots of deep breathing and other breath work. Each posture may use different types of props like blocks, bolsters, pillows, blankets, yoga mats, chairs, wall space, eye pillows, yes eye pillows to block out any light….this is the yoga for rest!!! It is so “yummy” that you will actually feel like you’ve slept and just woken up. You will be guided through an hour and a half of restorative poses. Music and some guided meditation will also be part of group classes. If you are one of my patients and have had many private CST sessions you will be able to receive during some classes. Other assists and energy work can also be given during groups if the client would like and there is time.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to get set up with all the goodies of comfort! People of all ages are welcome to any class and you don’t have to bring or know anything about yoga…you just have to want to feel good in your body!
